Formal signing of the cooperation and promotion agreement for the organization of the Women’s Youth U18 World Championship, with Kielce as the only host city, was held today in Kielce City Hall. The document was signed by the President of Kielce, Wojciech Lubawski and the President of the Polish Handball Federation, Andrzej Kraśnicki. The tournament will take place from August 7-19, 2018.
– The organization of the Youth World Championships is a chance to show the extremely rich achievements of the city of Kielce in handball and the great achievements of it’s athletes. Athletes and fans from all around the world will come to the City in August this year. It would not be possible without the support and involvement of the city authorities. Also I want to thank for the support of the Politechnika Świętokrzyska – Kielce University of Technology. The tournament in Kielce has the more significant importance, that it is part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of handball in Poland. The organization of youth events is also an important stage of preparation for the Senior World Championships, which will be organized by Poland and Sweden in 2023 – underlined PHF’s President, Andrzej Kraśnicki.
– Kielce confirm that they are a city of sport. I am glad that we have a huge trust and support form the organizers of major sports. We have repeatedly proved that such events in Kielce are successful – said the Mayor of Kielce, Wojciech Lubawski.
The meeting was also attended by vice president and director of the PHF’s office Henryk Szczepański, vice president of the PHF and chairman of the Świętokrzyskie Handball Federation Grzegorz Budziosz and PHF’s director of external relations and director of the tournament Damian Drobik.
