Angola after its best match in the tournament sensational drew with Romania 19:19! For Africans, that are the first points at the championships.
The first match of the day in the Hall Legionow could be treated as a kind of appetizer before the evening’s emotions. Romania – the team that has not lost a point yet – was facing Angola, which is at the opposite pole – the Africans’ account was still empty. It was a duel between David and Goliath.
From the very the beginning the difference separating both teams could not be noticed. Guests from Africa had their day, and the European girls went on the court too convinced of their imminent victory. As a result, Romania made a lot of simple mistakes and a draw was maintained until the 22nd minute (7:7). The team from the Black Sea woke up only at the end of the first part of the game. With three quick goals Romania built the advantage then (10:7), which they later systematically increased. After 30 minutes, the result was 12 to 8.
Angola team, however, impressed with its character and led to a draw in the 40th minute (14:14). The fans rubbed their eyes in amazement and admired the impressive game of Africans. Romania could not build an advantage. At the end of the game girls from Angola felt that the points are within their reach and sensationally maintained the draw (19:19).

QUOTES:
Diana Ciuca, goalkeeper of Romania team: We were a little bit tired. But we’ll son recover. We will play better starting from now. TOP 16 round is not enough. We have to show that we are capable of doing more than that.
Danilo Gagliard jr, head coach of Angola: It was a very good match for us. Definitely much better than the previous ones. Between tournaments we have no way to compete with such a good teams, that’s why there is no stability in our game, we play with waves. Today we have been able to significantly improve this element, we are growing from the match to the match. With Slovakia, we will be very motivated, we want to play our best match then and win.
