The stake of the match, between the representation of Chile and Montenegro, was to win the President’s Cup. The match promised a very close encounter, but the girls from the Balkans imposed their game pace from the beginning of the match, built the advantage which they kept until the end of the match.

The first half was better started by the national team of Montenegro, which in the fifth minute was leading 0: 3. The Chileans tried to get their first goal through seven minutes. Madeleine Cortez, who deflected a few balls, including a penalty throw, was defending the goal very well. However, this did not help her friends who were playing in the attack. Montenegrins were doing well on the defensive, they did everything to prevent the opponents from breaking through with any throw. Thanks to this, after thirty minutes they had a very high advantage of 7:15.

The second thirty minutes of the match was not much different from the previous one. Montenegrins consistently scored goals to not lose their lead even for a moment. They did not have any moment of relaxation, which could have caused their opponents to play better. The Chileans again showed a stubborn will to fight and the fact that they play handball not only with the body but also with the heart. After an hour of one-sided meeting, the representation of Montenegro enjoyed the victory of the President’s Cup and the 17th place. Chile was placed on the 18th place.

After the match a ceremonial ceremony took place. The President’s Cup, in the hands of the Montenegrin captain, was handed over by Narcisa Lecusanu-member of the IHF Executive Committee and Zygfryd Kuchta – vice-president of the PHF for training.
